Nobody cares if you're not a good dancer. Just get up and dance. The same holds true for racing. Whether first or last, we all cross that same finish line. Just get out there and run.

Tough Decisions, Insanity and General Badassery

With Rock N Roll Savannah this weekend, I think it's high time that I let you all know what's going on with this race. So, after the 18 mile long run a few weeks ago, I made a very difficult decision to drop down to the half marathon. I had a multitude of reasons, but mostly because the joy of running had sort of been sucked right out of me, and everything in my life was suffering with the training. I was crying almost every long run, and dreading them as well, it was not a good place. I still have some mixed feelings about dropping down but ultimately, I am doing what I feel is best for me and my health. I have some friends coming to run the full in Savannah as well, and I feel bad and feel like I have let them down. They have tried talking me into staying with the full, and I have been tempted but I have to stick to my guns on this one. Now, don't think that I have given up on those 26.2 dreams, I have just postponed them a little. The new plan is to run my first full in Tulsa for the Route 66 Marathon, I was inspired by Kelly and my coach Lesley. I'm just postponing the ultimate act of badassery until I feel that the world can handle all of this awesome badassness that is me.

Now on to the insanity, this is all half marathon related. After this weekend, I am going to be eligible to to join Half Fanatics, and I think I might... we'll see. So, I have run three half marathons this year thus far and plan on finishing out the year with three more. I have already signed up for half marathon #5 on Thanksgiving morning. The one that I would like to sign up for as my 6th is Zooma Atlanta, the only thing keeping me from signing up is that this race is two days after Thanksgiving. So, 6 half marathons may not seem like much to some runners but in my books it's pretty darn badass, and adds more medals to the collection.

Sometimes you have to do what is best for yourself overall. Sounds like you have listened to your body and done the right thing for you now. Enjoy the half! I WISH I had so many local runs to choose from! Wow!

You made the right decision! I mean if you feel you needed/wanted to switch distances than obviously it is the right thing to do! You'll still be a badass, and there are tons of other marathons out there for you. I think I'd rather run less and finish happy and in one piece than feel miserable and lose the joy of it all. I hope you have a really fun time this weekend, I can't wait to hear about it and see pictures! Must. Get. Pictures!!!

But you're gonna kick 13.1 butt this weekend! You did the right thing and glad you stuck to your decision. But don't ever forget that YOU RAN 18 MILES. We are going to have an awesome time in Tulsa!!!

You are so far ahead of me and I totally think you're badass! SIX half marathons is crazy! And 18 miles is pretty big head start to concuring 26.2. You have me so excited for Tulsa! We are gonna OWN Route 66 with our awesomeness :)
